Gateshead-based glass and glazing supplier Wadds has just completed the supply and installation of the shop front for a Sainsbury’s Local branch on Chillingham Road in the Heaton district of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Diane Ince, Managing Director of Wadds, commented: “This was a great project to work on and we’re delighted with the quality of the result.”
The main contractor on the project was local company J3 Building Solutions and Wadds won the contract to supply and install the shopfront in a competitive tender process. Diane tendered for the project using Exlabesa’s KC51 and KSF shopfronts. Both systems deliver results that maximise the glazed area for stunning aesthetics, meet and exceed current regulatory requirements and offer simple and cost-effective fabrication and installation. Diane said: “We chose the KC51 and KSF shopfronts because they delivered the solution required.”
Wadds has had an aluminium fabrication division since 2016 and the company has been an Exlabesa customer from day one. “We chose Exlabesa because of the quality of the product and service on offer, both of which are brilliant,” said Diane. The Exlabesa team was particularly helpful on the Chillingham Road project, as Diane explained: “Exlabesa’s North East Sales Manger Mark Hasler provided all the take-off drawings we needed and gave us technical support throughout.”
Wadds supplies, manufactures and installs glass and glazing products to domestic and commercial customers including Newcastle United Football Club, Newcastle upon Tyne NHS, Newcastle City Council, South Tyneside Council and Sunderland City Council. The company has been a fixture in the north east for over 50 years and is renowned for offering first class customer service every time.
Diane is proud of the fact two local suppliers played such an important role in developing the new supermarket. She concluded: “Chillingham Road is a prime location in the vibrant Heaton area and we’re delighted to see our work helping to ensure the area continues to thrive.”
