Responding to a surge in demand for its premium aluminium bi-fold door and window offering, leading retail, trade and commercial fabricator, Pioneer Trading, has announced the recent installation of a new Elumatec SBZ122/53 machining centre.

The new 3.8m routing station, which replaces an older Elumatec machine, completes an impressive line-up of equipment at the Essex based manufacturer. Featuring a 3-axis controller and the option of 5-sided profile machining for optimum efficiency, the decision to upgrade was made in order to not only satisfy an increase in orders for its aluminium products, but to ensure that the company was ideally placed to ensure consistent and reliable production going forward.

The Elumatec SBZ122/53 includes a rotating mechanism integrated into the spindle, allowing adjustment of the rotating angle head to 0°/90°/180° and 270° and for profile to be machined from the front, back and on the end with two different tools. Capable of five-sided machining on profiles up to 7.05m in length, it also features a power torque spindle and automatic clamp positioning designed to save time when profile lengths need to be changed frequently. In addition to the new routing station, Pioneer also invested in the latest eluCad software, which as well as being extremely user friendly, allows the machine to be programmed remotely from the office.

Supplying customers throughout the South East and London from its Chelmsford headquarters, Pioneer prides itself on a quality control system that is ‘second to none’, so the addition of the Elumatec router represents another step towards ensuring it can deliver on time and on budget.

Pioneer’s Group Operations Director, Mike Whitlam, commented: “While we welcomed the step up in orders for our aluminium offering, we needed the infrastructure in place to ensure that we could continue to offer our customers the level of service they’re used to, which is why we invested in the SBZ122/53 from Elumatec. It’s given us a greater degree of flexibility and more control over our production, while also allowing us an increase in output of between 50-75%. It can also be used with a bar code scanner, for additional quality control during manufacturing.”

Pioneer Trading offers a comprehensive range of aluminium and PVC-U windows, doors and conservatories, including its unique Signature range of windows, which are heralded as the most energy efficient on the market.
