The launch of a new product is always exciting, and for Hörmann UK the successful launch of their Hörmann Truedor range of composite doors at the FIT show in 2023 was no exception. However, it’s not just the launch of a product that’s important but it’s what happens next that proves to be the real test.

It’s fair to say that the company has not been resting on their laurels and over the past 14 months have been busy – introducing themselves and their product range to the market, recruiting personnel and putting in place organisational structures and procedures to support the sale of the product.

November 2023, and more recently May of this year, saw new and existing customers alike travel to the IG Doors manufacturing plant in South Wales to attend a series of Open Days.  Attendees were given a full tour of the new 200,000 sq. ft., fully automated manufacturing facilities which are dedicated to the production of composite doors.  Visitors were able to see firsthand the complete manufacture of a door, from the creation of the door slab right through to the final dispatch of the finished door. They were also able to visit the impressive on-site showroom to view the full range of products on offer, not only the extensive range of composite doors but also the new Clima 63 thermally efficient door and Platinum 44 steel door.  Both of these products have been designed to offer installers additional selling opportunities and to meet specific needs in the marketplace.  Clima 63 has been launched in response to the requirements of the Future Homes standard and to satisfy the demand for more thermally efficient products amongst homeowners. Whilst Platinum 44 provides a modern, cost-effective range of steel doors.

January 2024 saw the appointment of Gareth Burgess as Sales Manager responsible for the Hörmann Truedor range.  Gareth has a wealth of experience in the glass and glazing industry after spending 22 years working throughout the market.  Since joining the company Gareth has been busy talking to both existing customers and new accounts and applying his considerable knowledge and skill to expand Hörmann Truedor’s presence within the market.

The beginning of the year also saw the company introduce a new standard colour, Agate grey, to its colour options. With the popularity of grey seeming to continue unabated – with Anthracite and Slate grey leading the field, Agate grey has been launched to offer homeowners a lighter, softer shade of grey. It joins an unrivalled selection of colours available for the Hörmann Truedor range, with ten classic and twenty-six premium options. A new sample box was also introduced containing individual swatches of each of the colour options.

New order processing, despatch, and technical advice procedures have been put in place which are now all based at the company’s Coalville headquarters and are aimed at ensuring that high levels of customer service and support are provided across the Hörmann Truedor range.

Marketing and promotion for the range has been transferred to the Hörmann Marketing team who are also based in Coalville and have responsibility for the whole Hörmann range of domestic and industrial doors. Their role started with the FIT Show in 2023 and the launch of the Hörmann Truedor brand and has since developed to cover a wide range of promotional activities. Together with organising and running the two sets of Open Days at the IG Doors plant the team have also been busy creating trade advertising, posting across a number of social media platforms, placing PR, and supporting installers with literature and samples. A regular schedule of online communications has also been set up to ensure that existing and new customers are kept informed of developments to the product range and support services as they happen.

The Marketing Team have also started work on the development and creation of a new Hörmann Truedor website primarily aimed at the domestic consumer with access to the door configurator. A new and improved sales brochure is also being produced, with both of these items being completed and available by the end of 2024.

It is hard to believe that the next FIT show is now under 12 months away, but the team are already in exhibition mode and work is well underway to develop an exciting concept for the stand and supporting promotional activity. The whole Hörmann Truedor team are looking forward to being in attendance and welcoming visitors to stand H20.
