Kömmerling is now celebrating a 5-year anniversary for their 5-chambered, energy efficient O70 Gold® window and door system, boasting a number of high profile and well respected manufacturers throughout the UK and Ireland.
Profile design in the PVCu window industry has been based on a 3/4-chambered design for several decades, yet the launch in 2010 of Kömmerling’s 5-chambered systems, broke convention and for good reason. With energy efficiency top of the agenda through the implementation of the Window Energy Ratings back in March 2004, there was a need not just from glass processors, but from all companies in the supply chain to make their products perform better.
Today Kömmerling can boast the 5-chambered chamfered C70 and ovolo O70 Gold® window and door systems, which share the same beads and the profiles are also both fully interchangeable, which is a considerable benefit for fabricators looking to offer both styles of window design. Whilst these 5-chambered systems are now cast in design for the immediate future, Kömmerling are already working on new window and door systems, which push the boundaries of design and energy efficiency further. Already their KBE System 88 has been tested to achieve a U-value of just 0.6 W/m2K, while their new PremiDoor 88 can readily achieve the requirements for Passivhaus.
Over the last 5 years, Kömmerling has outgrown the market by some way, as fabricators have looked for a better profile system partner. New customers have built volume up quickly, while new starts have been successful in offering a quality German engineered product, right from day 1.
Kevin Warner, head of sales and marketing at Kömmerling commented: ‘The launch of O70 Gold was a landmark for the industry back in 2010 and since then as a Group we’ve been investing heavily in product design as the new European platform of System 76 and our latest PremiDoor 88 lift and slide door clearly shows.
He continues: ‘The Kömmerling name represents quality and innovation and this is something that will carry through to the new product launches later this year.’
