In a move that serves as a perfect example of Epwin Group’s commitment to promoting and developing people within the business, the company has recently appointed 23-year-old Fern Rossano as Trainee Business Development Manager. However, rather than simply boasting a glowing CV, Fern is following in her father’s footsteps: Nic Rossano is known to many as Epwin’s Development Manager who has spent almost 20 years with the company.

Sports-mad Fern, who has travelled internationally with her local rugby team, has focused her competitive spirit on following her father’s career… and maybe outdoing him. “The passion that my dad has for his job is very inspiring, and I hope to follow in his footsteps and work within the Epwin group to gain both professional and personal development,” Fern said.

Fern’s previous work experience has helped her develop strong interpersonal skills with the ability to multitask and manage her time effectively . “I am really excited to be working for the leading systems company in the UK and inspired by the individuals that I am working with” said Fern. She added “I have a great mentor and feel very privileged to be working with one of the industries most determined personalities and her energy is infectious. Epwin has been instrumental in my father’s very successful career and I am hoping for a long and challenging career with the group.”

So where does this drive come from? Well, they say the apple never falls very far from the tree, and father Nic Rossano demonstrates a broad career in the window and related industries, from designing window systems in the 1970s for leading retail companies to technical sales, which has been his main focus since the mid-1980s.

“In 1997 I joined Profile 22; I have been at Epwin ever since and never looked back. As Development Manager I am currently responsible for overseeing the biggest launch in the company’s history, two brand new window systems – it is as exciting as ever!.”

Apart from sharing a passion for windows and doors, Fern and Nic share many interests outside work, most notably their love of motorbikes. Among other bikes, Nic is the proud owner of a self-restored 1976 Suzuki GT 750, and a 1992 Ducati 888 SP4 that was originally owned by Gordon Murray (F1 McLaren Designer), and he helped Fern modify a 125cc Vespa on which she attended her sixth form college.
