FIT Show event director, Nickie West looks ahead to an exciting 2020: “It’s officially 2020 and after peeking over the parapet with a little trepidation at the end of 2019, not least because of all the political uncertainty, I am more excited than ever about what this year holds for our industry.
“A clear political route. Yes, still some uncertainty around Brexit, but nothing that we can’t plan for. Riding on a wave of buoyancy across the sector, as highlighted in the recent Insight Data report. We’ve got a lot to look forward to.
“When I speak with people in the industry, there is a genuine enthusiasm for what the next five years plus looks like. A drive to build skills and attract new talent into the industry, a thirst to explore new technology, a genuine concern and desire to tackle issues around sustainability and recycling, new overseas opportunities, new entrants to the market place and more companies reporting a bumper 2019 than ever before.
“It was encouraging to see the fantastic support for newer industry initiatives such as Building Our Skills, the Glazing Summit and Fenestration Awards. It illustrates just how committed the whole industry is in driving and celebrating quality, knowledge and skills. The support for FIT Show in 2019 was second to none, and we’re encouraged by the recent conversations we’ve been having about our 2020 outing.
“I’d like to say a huge thank you to our ongoing supporters such as the GGF, FENSA, Insight Data, Switch Marketing, Chase Taylor, Building Our Skills, FMB, the Door & Hardware Federation, Skills for Trade and GQA. Also a big thank you to our media supporters including Double Glazing Blogger, GGP, Total Installer, Glass Times, Clearview, Glass News and Windows Active. And of course the brilliant FIT Show team behind the scenes.
“I’d also like to thank all of our 2020 exhibitors who have thrown their support behind FIT Show once again this year. This includes a large number of brands, too many to name them all, who made their FIT Show debuts in 2019 such as Morley Glass, PAL Group, Smart Ready, Cortizo, Hodgson Sealants, Britment and HIRD. And not least our longstanding supporters who have been present at every FIT Show since 2013 including ODL Europe, IKON Aluminium, Konig UK, Glazpart and Profitmaker.
“There will be lots of new exhibitors making their debut at FIT Show 2020. We’re excited to welcome aluminium building systems brand, Technal as well as aluminium framed fire rated windows, doors & curtain walling company, Gennaro. New lock brands include Apecs and Fairlocks, YOURDOOR and Gilgen Door Systems who manufacture garage door and automated entrances, plus new exhibitor FinnsWorth. Overseas brands joining the lineup for the first time include UPVC manufacturer Adopen, Camsas, Yuksel Mentese and blinds manufacturer Perdesen.
“We’re committed to delivering another first class showcase when we open the doors on FIT Show 2020 at the NEC this May (12-14). Join us in saying Balls to Brexit and let’s put on another flagship event for the UK fenestration industry to be proud of.”
