So Who Are GM Fundraising

For many, GM Fundraising are the glazing industry’s preferred charity and given their impressive achievements over the last 17 years, quite rightly so. Gary Morton is the founder and chairman of the children-based charity and is supported by a team of committed individuals.

GM Fundraising was set up in 1995 and today has raised in excess of £900,000 of which £812,000 has gone directly to Hope House Children’s Hospices. It’s also important to note that every single penny raised by the charity and its participants goes directly to Hope House, where it’s needed most.

For those involved in the recent cycling adventures, the equipment and trip has to be funded completely by themselves, the cost of which can be anything from £5,000 to £10,000, depending how exotic they like their bikes! Yet, one of the cornerstones of the charity is the fun element. This means that whatever activities they undertake, it’s always viewed as an eminently enjoyable experience as anyone who has attended one of their glorious gala dinners can testify.

Hope House Children’s Hospices – Hope House at Oswestry and Tŷ Gobaith at Conwy – provide care and support to life-limited children, young people and their families from Shropshire, Cheshire, North and Mid Wales. A range of services is offered, including respite, end-of-life care and bereavement counseling at the hospices and/or within the family home. There’s also support in the form of counseling, advocacy and the promotion of children, young people’s and carers’ rights.

Hope 66 is the latest charity bike ride to be launched by GM Fundraising and is supported by Mighton Products, as Headline Sponsor. There’s already a team of 15 riders and 6 support crew committed to the epic trip, across the iconic Route 66 by bicycle which starts on 31st August 2013. In just 14 days the team will pedal their way from Chicago to Santa Monica in California travelling through the desert of Arizona and over the Southern tip of the Rocky Mountains.

Gary Morton, chairman of GM Fundraising comments: ‘It’s important that people know who we are as a charity and what our incredible fundraising activities involve. Our clear goal now is to reach the magical £1million mark in the next 12 months, with the grateful support of the glazing industry.’
