Richard Barlow, Gary Beech and Darren Larkin from UK Window Systems in Stoke are climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in October to raise money for the FSID charity (Foundation for the Study of Infant Death) in memory of Richard’s baby son Finlay who sadly died in 2011.
Not content with just attempting the Machame trek up the mountain however, Richard, Gary, Darren and four other team members will be doing the climb carrying a window fabricated in REHAU PVC-U.
When the team make it to the top of Kilimanjaro, they are confident that it will become the highest PVC-U window in the world.
Richard and his team have set themselves a target of raising £30,000 for FSID and have a whole series of events planned leading up to their October challenge.
They will be at the FIT Show in April hoping that the rest of the window and door industry will back their fundraising efforts and will be taking it in turns to tour the show carrying the REHAU window. They will also have their own pop up display in the REHAU sponsored bar and restaurant explaining the challenge and appealing for donations from visitors.
Richard, Gary and Darren are also planning a Black Tie ball at Port Vale FC, where UK Window Systems are one of the main club sponsors, and charity Open Days at their factory and trade counters.
