Edgetech Helps a Further Five Customers Achieve Part 3

Brouha Marketing Ltd for Edgetech I.G. Inc (February 6th 2009)

The only dedicated Warm Edge Technology manufacturer in the UK, Edgetech has helped five more of its customers achieve EN1279 Part 3. “Sealed unit manufacturers that have achieved EN1279 Part 3 can demonstrate to their customers their compliance to industry standards and their commitment to offering a quality product,” says Andy Jones, Managing Director of Edgetech. “That’s why we offer our customers all the support they need to submit their units and pass this rigorous testing procedure. We would like to congratulate our latest customers; Safeguard, Dalgan Wood Industry Ltd, Provincial Glass and Mirror, Northern Express Glass Ltd and CCG Ltd for achieving the standard. Part 3, the long term gas loss part of the EN1279 standard is an important standard to achieve and we’re delighted to be able to help our customers through the process. This particular test is becoming more important due to the requirements for higher window energy ratings within the industry – the inclusion of gas plays a significant role in achieving these all important A, B and C ratings.

“Companies using Edgetech’s warm edge products were among the first to achieve both Part 2 and the even more demanding Part 3. Super Spacer®, with its simplified speedy production system and excellent gas retention properties can help all IG unit manufacturers meet the rigorous requirements of EN1279. Many other warm edge technologies rely on the highly questionable ‘substitution rule’ allowing companies to claim that they demonstrate compliance with EN1279 Part 3 when in reality they have never had their warm edge system tested. The ‘substitution rule’ allows companies who have passed part three with their rigid aluminium spacer system to claim the same pass with their chosen warm edge system even when the warm edge system is manufactured from a completely different material type and in some cases with different manufacturing processes.”
