Proving to be the biggest and best show yet, FIT Show 2017 was a roaring success making its debut at the NEC, Birmingham, with unique visitor numbers increasing by 17% compared to the previous show held in 2016. One of the many reasons for this was the introduction of ‘BIG Tuesday’.
Extending its opening hours on the first day to 8pm to give those who work throughout the day a chance to visit the FIT Show, business and pleasure combined for a night of fun enjoyed by all on ‘BIG Tuesday’. From champagne receptions and ‘80s themed discos to quiz nights and ballet dancing, as the exhibition began to unwind at 5pm the parties began.
One of the highlights of ‘BIG Tuesday’ was Ultraframe’s marching band. Making a loud impression walking up and down the halls entertaining visitors and exhibitors alike, it wasn’t surprising to see random people break out into dance when the band – who looked like something straight from the cover of The Beatles album, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band – marched in their direction.
Other highlights included the GGF’s 40th anniversary party, complete with on-stand band, Rehau’s ice sculptor, the appearance of former Bond Girl, Caroline Munro, on The Georgian Bar Company’s stand, cocktail bars on both the Yale and aïr by Everglade Windows stands, and also AluK’s BIG FIT Show Quiz.
“’BIG Tuesday’ was a huge success for us. Our stand was packed all day and all night,” said Linda Tomb, Apeer’s Marketing Manager. Hannah Langridge of Jackloc added: “We found ‘BIG Tuesday’ was a great socialising opportunity with other exhibitors.”
With 557 new registrations after 3pm on ‘BIG Tuesday’, which accounted for 6% of the overall total of unique visitors at FIT Show 2017, the idea to extending opening hours on the first day was a welcomed one by both exhibitors and visitors.
